Halloween Decorating

I haven’t posted in a long time but I was feeling the fall and Halloween vibes….

It is very hard to find affordable vintage Halloween now so the last few years I have tried to better use of what I already own. I seek out Halloween-ish items to mix into my vignettes, and I now try to frame a couple of things every year that normally would have stayed in boxes. I have framed most of my antique “scrap” pieces and also collaged the the damaged bits and random single pieces I own. (I just us a dab of acid free paste on an acid free background paper so they could be easily removed in future if desired.) I store the frames under a bed and just pull them out before the season. For several years I have been hanging the embossed, German, paper pieces on my interior doors. I use a piece of fishing line and a thumbtack on top of door (both of which stay on.) This idea and the frames make very quick decorating.

I didn’t do all of the small, more time consuming vignettes but I did take out most things. I was particularly very happy with how the lantern display came out this year. I used walking stick branches from my garden again along with my mini collection of old black phones and vintage crafting leaves. Most of of my posting is usually on Instagram as The Haunted Lamp

Happy Halloween!
